Still playing around with folky patterns and colour combinations on some lovely little pieces of paper.

I'm calling these ACEOs (because I finally found out what ACEO means thanks to a Storque article over at Etsy... I can't exactly remember right now, something about Artist Cards... Originals?). Anyway, they're tiny and they're original, I think that is the general theme.

I was working so hard today... until I realised I could create myself an identical twin using photo booth. Woo hoo for cheap tricks and procrastination hey...

This is an idea I've had in mind for a very long time and I'm so excited that it has finally come about in real life. I made a gift card! I am using the same pattern as was used for my gift wrap released with issue 26 of Frankie magazine. Speaking of gift wrap, I also have that available too... just incase you missed getting your hands on some with Frankie.

Last month, while at a music festival, some happy person accidently danced right over the top of my bag. This was a little unfortunate as they managed to crush my beloved camera. Living without a camera is not really working for me so I have decided to have a fundraising print sale.

From Monday 20th April to Tuesday 21st April all prints in my shop will be half price.

This week something quite exciting happened, I reached sale number 1000 in the My Folk Lover shop! I never never imagined that would happen back in 2007 when I listed my first teacup prints and originals. So thank you to anyone who has ever bought something from me and also to the super people who have mentioned my shop on their website or blog.

My Folk Lover loves you big time.

Which brings me to this... I've made a little package of lovely things and I'm going to give it away. First up is a favourite drawing that has been sitting on my desk for a few months and I thought it might like to go to a good home. It is an original artwork on heavyweight archival paper and measures 6" x 8". There is some paper-cutting, watercolour and gold leaf in there too...

Also included will be 10 big sheets of wrapping paper covered in my little paper-cut characters. Wallpaper your bathroom with this one.

Last but not least, the full set of ladies at sea prints. These are professionally printed on lovely textured heavy weight archival paper and measure 5" x 7" each (there are four prints in total).

Well I inked her up with Sailor Jerry tattoos and she became a little sailor's spirit. At the moment I'm thinking of her as a work in progress sketch, I'm getting closer to what I want...

starry skies...

Here is a drawing I have just finished, it is a gift for a friend who is about to embark on a big adventure...

I think it is one of my favourites, I'm really trying to work out how to successfully combine pen and ink, watercolour and paper cutting and I'm finally getting closer to what I want. It's available as a print in the shop right here if you would like to take a look.

Also, here is a little work in progress sketch that will hopefully be finished in the next few days...

the wind that blows...

Yesterday I finished a new little drawing, it was inspired by a poem I found on an old ceramic jug housed at the National Maritime Museum in London. I'm starting to work out my ideas for a group drawing show that is coming up in November curated by Audrey Kawasaki at Thinkspace gallery. I can't wait for it, the line up of artists involved is amazing.

a little shop update...

Today I found a little snippet of paper that read 'What a wonderful place to hide', so I added it to my drawing and she took on a life of her own...

She is sitting over in the shop right now, along side a new print set and the little red cardigan girl...

It's almost time for bed but here is a new drawing that I have been finishing up today. She is all set for the little shop update tomorrow afternoon...

tree hugger bunny lover...

Okay here it is, don't laugh, my first ever gocco print!

Yep, I kept it pretty simple because I think it is going to take me a while to get the hang of it, however I did do a bit of customising with some little papercuts. I made a series and have called them the 'Tree Hugger Bunny Lovers' as they live in the tall grass and are the guardians of white rabbits everywhere...

They are about 3 x 4 inches each and are sitting over in the shop right now... very cheap and cheerful!
One day I'll make some grown up art... maybe.

gocco love...

Look what I picked up from the post office yesterday. Little Gocco, I love you.

I'm going to spend the rest of the day trying to work out how to use it, so hopefully I will have something to show very soon!

Also, a tiny bit of shop news. Whilst searching around the depths of my computer I found some high quality scans of my 'Searching for Romantic Icecream' series, which was a very nice surprise because I didn't think I had them. So another little print set has been added to the shop, including some rather lovely flavours.
