I'm in the garden a lot at the moment, it being Spring and all. I was thinking that with the amount of inner-city land we live on here in Australia it could be possible to live almost 75% self sustainably, simply from the backyard, urban style. That's my big plan at the moment. I have been busy constructing two raised veggie beds in addition to my existing veggie beds and this morning, in the rain, I built a compost area. I must admit I'm very happy with the whole lot... except sadly my little tomato plants, who are taking a bit of a battering in the wind today. I wish them luck.
Once the vegetables are up and running the next part of my plan is for chickens. Inner city style chickens! In particular Silver Laced Wyandottes...
Such beautiful ladies! Chickens are going to take a bit more planning but I'm hoping they'll be part of the action sometime in the near future.
For now though I will stick with seedlings and hope the wind blows itself away and not my tomato plants.
