creating a sketchbook...

 

I bought some new sketchbooks yesterday, there isn't many pages in each and they have cardboard covers which is nice and comfortable for me. Glamourous sketchbooks intimidate me, especially the first white page, so clean and perfect, I never know how to start. I don't tend to keep a sketchbook, my initial ideas usually arrive as words that I scribble down all over the place, however I have recently been looking at the books of Stella Im Hultberg and thought it might be a nice thing to do...

Yep, I get totally overwhelmed with that first white page and inevitably scribble something ridiculous just to make a mark. I'm sure yours will be beautiful though! x

On my last Art Journal's first page I wrote in my scrawly calligraphy ..." I have to start somewhere, so I'll start here!" in the botton corner...then added a few torn pictures and vintage wallpaper bits and things got started! Can't wait to see yours! Stella's are beautiful!

I bought the same sketchbooks a while ago, and they're STILL blank! BAD!

Thanks for the reminder. I must stop sitting sketchbooks on display because they look pretty, and start actually using them. Haha!!

Funny you should post this - I'm currently bookmarking photos of artists' sketchbooks like mad, in an effort to get myself motivated/inspired to actually keep a visual diary again.

I haven't stopped by your blog for a while! These by Stella look great, wouldlove to see what you do with yours! I am the same.. I'm too precious with a new fancy sketchbook. I have a few waiting around....
