I made a really yummy berry cake on the weekend from a recipe I found over at Design*Sponge. If you don't already know about it and you feel like eating something nice, you should visit their recipe page.
Also, I stumbled across these beautiful simple patterns on one of my favourite blogs, Fine Little Day...
I want to make this:
The internet is so rad, I found this in a random image search and thought that it could only be the individual creation of someone's odd ball imagination. Well, probably yes, but with a bit more looking I found that a pattern is available and it comes from a 1977 publication by Better Homes and Gardens called 'Crocheting and Knitting'. Then a few more clicks and I ended up buying the book from Amazon for $4! 1977 and the future are going to combine to make an excellent crochet blanket... hopefully... if I have the patience...
'Hopeless Romantic'
Here is one of the new pieces that will be displayed at the upcoming Art Melbourne. My work will be in Booth B5, it's at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton from 22 - 25 April!
(In case it's a bit tiny to read, she has HOPELESS ROMANTIC tattooed across her fingers.)
I bought some new sketchbooks yesterday, there isn't many pages in each and they have cardboard covers which is nice and comfortable for me. Glamourous sketchbooks intimidate me, especially the first white page, so clean and perfect, I never know how to start. I don't tend to keep a sketchbook, my initial ideas usually arrive as words that I scribble down all over the place, however I have recently been looking at the books of Stella Im Hultberg and thought it might be a nice thing to do...
Art Melbourne is looming so I'm busy with a new series of drawings. I think I'm going to continue on from where I got to with the Somersaults and Strange Company work, maybe something like this...
The next show at Extended Play opens on Friday night and it is the exhibition of my very good friend and gallery running business partner Andy Lewis. He has been busy making excellent bad dudes, so come by if you are in the neighbourhood. It's at Extended Play Gallery, 547 High Street Northcote, the drinks start at six!
