This is an idea I've had in mind for a very long time and I'm so excited that it has finally come about in real life. I made a gift card! I am using the same pattern as was used for my gift wrap released with issue 26 of Frankie magazine. Speaking of gift wrap, I also have that available too... just incase you missed getting your hands on some with Frankie.

buttercup...

Here are the beginnings of my Victorian language of flowers series. There are to be twelve in total and they are going to take up the most part of one wall in my exhibition. None finished yet, but I'm getting there. The first one here is Buttercup, followed by Rosemary and I think the detail of the girl at the end may become Poppy. Each is on A3 sized paper, big for me! When they get closer to being finished I will post some more detailed images.

The new issue of Frankie is out and it looks so pretty. I got to do something fun for this issue, I was sent a pair of Vans and I got to turn them into what ever took my fancy. After staring at them in an upside down way for a few days they became a pair of wintery owls...

That's them on the right, next to Mel Stringer, one of my all time favourites. You can also find an interview with Pip's son Ari and right at the very back I spied a full page ad for Finders Keepers Market using my illustration. I'm in love with Frankie magazine, it's the all time greatest magazine on the planet.

Last month, while at a music festival, some happy person accidently danced right over the top of my bag. This was a little unfortunate as they managed to crush my beloved camera. Living without a camera is not really working for me so I have decided to have a fundraising print sale.

From Monday 20th April to Tuesday 21st April all prints in my shop will be half price.

solo exhibition...

So it is the first day of the long weekend and I find that I am sick. Which is a little boring as I should be doing lots of fun things, including finishing off some new work to show and tell you about. The big news for me this year is that I have organised my first solo exhibition, it will be at Kick Gallery in Northcote opening early July. 

I'm very nervous. After planning and thinking and sketching for the last three months I finally have a tiny idea about where I want to go. 

By the end of April I should have half of the work complete, in my mind that includes a series of twelve ladies and eight dapper looking gentlemen. I will be using some odd photos from the 1800's that I recently bought off ebay, including this strange fellow...

I have also been interested in the Victorian language of flowers. Here is a buttercup, and if I were a polite Victorian lady I might believe that there are good things to come. One does hope so... it would be nice to see a drawing finally finished...

unicef bunnies...

Yesterday I got an idea that I decided had to be ready by today, the first day of April, so I stayed up half the night stitching and here it is. I'm planning to make one quilted bunny for the first day of every month, they will be available in my shop and all the money made will be donated to UNICEF. They're UNICEF bunnies!

This little quilted piece measures 6 x 8.5" and would look very nice framed as a wall hanging for a little person... or even a big person.
