sleepy flower head...

It's almost time for bed but here is a new drawing that I have been finishing up today. She is all set for the little shop update tomorrow afternoon...

All those tiny lines have made me sleepy...

little faces...

Earlier in the week I had a little plan to start a little project. I decided that, for fun and practice, I would like to draw one of my characters every day. I would like to post them daily onto a blog and look at them over time as a sort of visual face diary. Then I can see how they change depending on things such as the weather, moodiness, if they got a good nights sleep, what happens to be growing out of their head at the time... you know, that kind of thing.

As it took me two days to complete the first one, I decided I wouldn't be so strict on myself and instead just draw as many faces as possible, with the hope of getting at least ten done in a month. So here is the first three, in various stages of completion...

In other lovely news, today I was featured over at the Creature Comforts blog because, well, Melissa loves me! That was very nice... thank you Melissa.

diamond pullovers...

Well I'm not exactly sure how it happened but the work in progress sketch from my last post somehow turned into these two fellows...

They are for a little show that is opening tonight, they are quite tiny, about 6 x 6 inches each. I had a nice time drawing them, I forgot how nice it is to just sit and draw... something other than little girls.

Thank goodness the sun came out today because I think I was beginning to get S.A.D.

Here is a quick little sketch of something I am working on at the moment. I'm supposed to have three small pieces in the upcoming Northern Exposure show. I think they were due yesterday. I'm running very late.

the weekend...

Today I am packaging and posting and getting all orders up to date. I wanted to try making an animation this weekend but instead I remembered that I have to get three little works finished for the upcoming Northern Exposure festival. As they have to be on canvas I think I might pull out the old needle and thread again...

dominique mitchelson...

A little while ago I was wandering through the lane-ways in the city and I came across an exhibition in Centre Place of beautiful drypoint etchings by an artist called Dominique Mitchelson. I scribbled her name down intending to go home and start stalking her on the old interwebs, as you do these days, only to find nothing! This woman, who makes very beautiful prints, is a renegade with no internet presence... fancy that. 

Luckily, she recently popped up on the wonderful new blog Craft City Melbourne, which led me to the Outre Gallery website, and finally here are some pictures for show and tell...

pottering...

One of my favourite things to do is to potter. I spend a lot of time pottering about the place and I must admit I occasionally feel slightly guilty about skipping the real world on a regular basis. However the guilt may be easing as someone lovely who knows me quite well just sent me a BBC article called 'The Joys of Pottering'.

"Pottering and happiness are very likely bedfellows. There is much to be said for it."
