Today I am sitting at my desk sniffling into a tissue, surrounded by blank objects that need to be completed... a blank little paperquilt card from Dawbis, another blank wooden bottle for the Kingbrown Magazine launch in Perth, and also a blank little wooden Kokeshi doll. I need to remove a few things from my to-do list so I have decided today will be Kokeshi doll day. If you are wondering what a Kokeshi doll is, here is a photo of my blank one...
She will be part of an exhibition at Subtext gallery in San Diego, curated by Christina Conway in celebration of a Japanese national holiday called Bunka-no-hi. There is an amazing line up that will be part of this show and each artist has been given the same little doll to customise. You can take a look here to see the artists involved, here to take a peek at some finished Kokeshi dolls, and here to find out more about the project. Well, off I go to start-a-painting...
Oh is this the same exhibition Audrey K is exhibiting in? I remember reading something about this a few weeks ago on her blog...?
How awesome! You'll get loads of publicity from this...and I think its the coolest idea for a show! :)

Wow - just found this blog via an old post on Happy Silly. Funny cause I know your work from Frankie - which is more local. I'll pop back often. Anna-Lisa

Wow! I just love Kokeshis and this exhibition looks wonderful. It reminds me arttoys exhibitions (for example Qees) but in a craftier way. It must be great for you to get involved in so many different art projects with talentful artists!

This looks like fun, can't wait to see the finished thing. Really cool that you are involved in so many projects, congrats on all the publicity.
