okadaya...

Yesterday, while in Shinjuku I found the seven floor high craft store called Okadaya. It is actually over two buildings, one building is seven floors and the other five floors! Oh my goodness I would live in Japan just for this store... it is cute material, trimmings, cloth covered buttons, craft book heaven! Here is a little photo of my loot...

I can't wait to start a-stitching when I get home... not that I want to go home (just yet!).

tokyo...

We are in Tokyo!

Shibuya2

It is definitely one of the most amazing places I have ever been to. We have five more days in Tokyo then we will head off to Kyoto. Next Monday we are attending a friend's wedding which should be beautiful so hopefully I will be able to post some photos. Today we are off to Shinjuku, I've heard rumours of an amazing seven floor high craft store which I have decided I must find! Oh, one more thing... the food is so good...

paperquilts...

It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep... I think I'm too excited, it is only four more sleeps until we leave for Japan!

Yesterday I received a lovely little package of papers in the mail from a very inspiring artist by the name of Dawbis. A while ago I signed up for her paperquilt project and even though I have decided to wait until I get back from Japan, I'm quite excited to get started. Here is a little peek at my paper selection...

sketchy...

After setting up quite a lovely looking sketch blog, I decided that I wasn't really a sketch-a-day kind of gal, well not a public sketcher anyway. It seemed like a great idea in theory, however, some things I like to keep hidden and I think my sketches might be one of those things. Only because they represent tiny little bits and pieces of ideas, and they sort of feel a bit naked on show to the big wide world. My drawings need to be fully dressed before they leave the house!

Anyway here is a random sketch that was sitting over on my short lived sketch blog, it is coming out for a peek and will probably disappear back under the covers at any moment...

doctor vee...

I have made a little zine in collaboration with Dr. V (El Temerario) and it is now up and ready to show. I decided to make a little book out of my 'Searching for Romantic Icecream Moments' and the great part about it is that you can download a high quality pdf version, print it out and assemble it for yourself!

So if you're in search of eating icecream romantically head over to Dr. V and look for the magic link...

plastic pretty...

These are my new magic lights that I have strung all around the stove. They are trying to make me feel a little more welcome in the kitchen... don't get me wrong, I love to cook, it's just not something I think about doing very often. For someone who reads a lot of cookbooks though, I think I should be more inspired! I do believe these beautiful candy coloured pieces of plastic are going to make all the difference...

In other news, I have been meaning to do this for quite a while now and after getting some very nice scans, I am able to list a new little print set in my store. When I say little, I mean tiny! These four prints are from my 'Curious Adventures on the High Seas' series and each of them measures just over 2" x 2.5"...

They are right over here...

Frankie has been on sale for a little while now so I guess it is okay to post the interview...

a few originals...

Well today was supposed to be quite productive, but it didn't really turn out that way. I was up until 3am this morning finishing off some work so today time seemed to move in strange directions. I did a bit of packaging and posting, went for a coffee... and that was about it. I did however take a look through my folder that I use to keep my original drawings in and I have decided that rather than have them buried away, I might make a few of them available over at Etsy. I must admit I do get rather attached to some of my drawings, however I think it is better for them to be loved and looked at rather than hidden in a folder! Mmmm... hehehe, I think I'm a bit tipsy so before I get too sentimental, here are the ones I have available...
